The Community Impact Network is the new, third division of the University Center for Social and Urban Research at the University of Pittsburgh, joining the established Western PA Regional Data Center and the Survey & Qualitative Research divisions. The Community Impact Network will support specific teams of university and community members who are using research and action to make a positive impact on pressing regional issues. Network Teams will be part of a two-year cohort, with at least three receiving start-up funding in 2026, made possible by a generous donation to the university.
The Community Impact Network will also be a peer-learning network for community engaged researchers across the university. Network Teams, as well as community engaged researchers and community members affiliated with UCSUR will be supported through ongoing quarterly Network Forum gatherings and through publicity in UCSUR channels. Forum meetings will highlight the work of the Teams and other examples of best practices in community engaged research, address emerging concerns, and create valuable space for relationship building and intentional networking.
